Why we love what we do
After years of being at jobs that I didn’t love, and searching for a creative outlet that allowed me to work at least part time from home, Sassy Cassie Shirt Co was born.
Since having my oldest child I began making tutus for babies and toddlers. When my son was born I added in making bowties, and operating under the name Chloeander Designs. But then life took over and my “hobby” was lost in the shuffle.
After my oldest was diagnosed with leukemia, I wanted to give back in some way. I began collecting used and broken crayons, sorting them by color, melting them down, and making new crayons in fun shapes. Chloe’s crayons donated hundreds of crayons and coloring books to local hospitals and children going through medical issues. After a mishap in my cousin’s kitchen while melting down crayons (yellow! lol), and some major life changes, I had to step back from Chloe’s crayons and focus on my family.
I was still searching for something. I tried a health and wellness company. I tried a company for twirly little girl dresses. I started a hobby of decorating my daily planner.
At that point I bought a cutting machine with the desire to cut my own stickers. While learning about cutting stickers I found that I could create stencils and use fabric paint to make t-shirts. That progressed to learning there was heat transfer vinyl that I could cut and iron on to the shirts.
I found myself in creating funny and sassy shirts for my friends and family. As I learned more and got better at what I was doing, I also found out about sublimation.
From having one small cutting machine in my bedroom, I’ve now moved to having a workshop in my backyard full of inventory and machines, with the ability to create using vinyl pressed on to a shirt, and ink sublimated directly into the fabric of the shirt.
And in the sassy and stubborn nature of my youngest little one - Sassy Cassie Shirt Co was created!
